PRIVATE GEO. BOSTING. ' The sad news has come to hand that Private George Bosting, Coldstream Guards, husband of Mrs. Bosting. 11. Battle-road, Silverhill, has been killed in France.

Prior to the War he was a gardener in the employ of Mr. F. Unson, at Vale Maecal, Hollington, and was so employed for ten years.  He joined up in June. 1916 and went to the Front on January 5th of this year.  He was killed on July 31st. A widow and small son mourn his loss. He was 38 years of age.

Second-Lieut. A. J. Martin, writing to the Widow, says that the late Private Bosting was wounded about 6.30 in the morning during an advance near the Yser Canal, and died soon after. He was scout to his Platoon, and it was whilst returning from delivering a message that he was wounded.  He [Martin] continues: "It is some satisfaction to us that he got his message through, and it was acted upon, but the loss of gallant a comrade is a price we could  ll afford pay.

He was admired all who knew him. because of the high standard which he reached in every way.  His example of steadiness was one from which many a younger soldier has gained advantage. If at any time fortune should bring me to England I should consider it a privilege, if I could see you, to tell you more about your husband.  At present I can only join in tendering the sympathy my Platoon to you and your little son in your sad bereavement."

THE LATE MRS. BOSTING.-We regret report the death on Sunday, at the Royal East Sussex Hospital, of Mrs. Caroline Annie Bosting, aged 55.

The funeral was on Thursday, the first portion of the service being held at St. Peter's Church, where her son is a server. The Rev. H. Tarrant officiated.

The interment was at the Borough Cemetery in the family grave. The mourners present were: Mr. William G. Bosting (son). Mrs. Manley (sister), Mr. Harris (brother), Miss Harris (sister), Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Harris (brother and sister-inlaw), Mrs. Crowhurst, Brighton (aunt), Miss Ivy Harris (niece), Mrs. Gasson, Mrs. Croft, Mrs. Pennells, and Mr. Sydney French.

Floral tributes were sent from the following:—Wreath, " In loving memory of & perfect mother, from her sorrowing son, Will"; wreath, " With love dear Carrie, from Louie, Charlie, and Jim. 'Life's work well done, and then comes rest'";.....

The whole of the funeral arrangements were admirably conducted by Mr. Arthur C. Towner and 69, Norman-road. St. Leonards.

Mr. William G. Bosting desires to express his thanks to all friends for their kind letters of sympathy for him in his bereavement and for floral tributes, also the doctors and staff of the Royal East Sussex Hospital for their care and attention.

George was a private in the 2nd Coldstream Guards Battalion.  He and his wife were living at 11 Battle Road, St Leonards.  George was a gardener, and they had a son, William George. George served in France and was killed in action on the 31st July 1917, the first day of the third Battle of Ypres.  He is commemoraed on  Panel of the Menin Gate, Ypres.
