The death of Mr. Walter George Chapman, which occurred last Friday at his home, 58, Silverlands-
Mr. Chapman leaves a widow, aged 78, and five sons. The funeral took place on Wednesday at the Borough Cemetery, Pastor Hoad officiating. The grave was beautifully lined with evergreens and flowers, a tribute from Mr. Arthur Towner to an old friend. The mourners included Mrs. Catherine Chapman (widow), Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Chapman, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Chapman, Mr. and Mrs. G. Chapman, Mr. and Mrs. F. Chapman, and Mr. and Mrs. J. Chapman (sons and daughters-
Hastings and Bexhill photographer. George Chapman was born at St Leonards in 1880, the son of a milkman, Walter Chapman, who had been born in the town in about 1857. His mother, Catherine Chapman, came from Rye. The family lived in Gensing Road, off Norman Road. George had two elder brothers, Ernest Chapman and William Chapman, (both milkmen in 1891) and by 1891 three younger brothers: Frank, Albert (died in 1920, aged 36, and is buried with his parents at FC I07) and James Chapman. In 1891 they were living at 20 Alma Villas.
