DEATH OF MR. E. DYER. PROMINENT BOWLS PLAYER. A LIFE OF ACTIVITY A large circle of friends, will learn with regret of the death of Mr. Edward Dyer, of 15, St. Helens-
Edward Dyer was born May 19th, 1845, and married to Annie Laura Brinton, eldest daughter of Mr. Brinton. J.P.. East Park , House, Southampton, on October 13th. 1876. He was educated at Eggar's Grammar School and St. John's College, Hurstpierpoint. His public activities may be summarised as follows:[not all listed]
Volunteer at Andover 1861, and in Alton 1865; about 25 years Church warden at Alton Parish Church; about 25 years Committee. Alton National Schools; about 40 years member of Committee, Alton Mechanical Institute, and for many years a vice president and chairman of Games Committee. For years Hon. Cor. Secretary, and arranged lectures, and other entertainments; 15 years member of Alton Fire Brigade, and for many years the Hon. Secretary, was presented with a writing case and address when leaving, and elected member for life: many years a member of Church Choir; member Church Council: on a Committee of Alton Fuel Fund 30 years; hon. secretary Soup Fund, 1881, and for many years hon. member Hants Friendly Society. President for many years Alton Cyclists Club. ..................
Mr. Dyer has been for many years a member the Hastings and St. Conservative Club and served on the General Committee and the House Committee. He held the office of Chairman of Committee for one year.He was a prominent bowler, and was for a number of years, a member of the Alexandra Bowling Club, of which he has been President and Chairman.
