Boaz Jarrett -
He was born in Mayfield in 1866 (christened 6th May 1866)and came to Hastings in his 20s, living in Silverhill.

By the time of his death in 1937, at the age of 71, he highly respected in the town and held several influential charitable posts. He was a Freemason and also greatly interested in sport, particularly cricket and swimming, and encouraged his younger members of staff to take up such activities.
Footnote: “I am the great nephew of Boaz Jarrett, partner of Adams and Jarrett. Perhaps all was not bad about that firm as my mother remembers her uncle purchasing houses from his own pocket during the winter months in order that his employees could work and not be laid off as the majority of other builders did in those days.”
